It’s a Food Book Fair! If you love to eat and
love to read then don’t miss this event. While
enjoying literary culture, be sure to purchase
food and beverages from our local merchants.
Death by Chocolate at the Food Book Fair
$5 entry fee
Calling all chocolate specialists and chocolate bakers! Purchase
a ticket for the Death by Chocolate Contest to be held at the Food
Book Fair on Friday, August 22. Create a delicious chocolate
item and a panel of chocolate experts will convene to judge your
creations and award prizes. All creations must be turned in by
2:30 p.m. on August 22.
• The Basics
- Each entry must include a form of chocolate.
The contest is limited to one entry per person. You will be
judged on taste and presentation.
• Expert Chocolate Judging Panel
- Entries will be judged
by a panel of chocolate experts.
• The Prizes
- The first and second place winners will receive
a gift basket filled with chocolate and more.
They will perform a variety of country, bluegrass and gospel
songs in our ballroom.

Third Annual Jewelry Swap – Trade your Old Junque
for New Treasures!
Do you have a drawer full of costume jewelry that seemed like a
good idea at the time? Be a part of Sun City’s Jewelry Swap on
Friday, August 8—an addition to our already popular annual
Boutique Bazaar. This swap is for fun! Dollar value of items will
not be taken into consideration. This will be a one-for-one swap.
NEW! – Reservation System for Day of Participation
Turn in your jewelry early! Bring your unwanted jewelry (details
below) to the Lifestyle & Activities office no later than noon on
Friday, July 18. When you turn in your jewelry, you will receive
a reservation number for day-of participation. In late July, you
will receive an email with your day-of reservation time.
No more than five (5) jewelry items (necklaces, rings, earrings,
bracelets, brooches, cabochons) can be turned in per person. No
broken items will be accepted.
Put all five items into a Ziploc bag with your name and email
address clearly printed on the bag. Attach earrings to a small
card (business size), and then put into your bag. If items are
likely to tangle, please put them in separate bags.
In late July, detailed day-of-event instructions will be emailed
to all participants.
When you check in at the Jewelry Swap, you will receive one
coupon per donated item, allowing you to choose from among
the other donated items.
Any items remaining at the end of the day will be donated to a
local thrift store.
