features prints of Frida Kahlo art as well as a celebrity photo
wall featuring photos of famous patrons. Choose your entree
from these options: Pollo a la Mexicana (grilled chicken topped
with green onions); Tacos al Carbon (grilled beef); or Vegetarian
Chile Relleno.
Purchase your tickets for CA Sponsored Outings at
or at the Member Services Office.
Tickets for activities listed for the first time will be available
Monday, June 2, at 8 a.m.
OUTINGS
After lunch, we will travel to the Institute of Texan Cultures
for a leisurely on-your-own tour. We have the opportunity to see
the show at the multimedia Dome Theater with its 36 screens,
plus time to explore the interactive exhibits and displays that
tell the stories of Texas. This is a fascinating museum honoring
the heritages of the settlers who created Texas. Twenty-seven
cultural and ethnic groups are represented in imaginative exhib-
its featuring religious artifacts, household items, clothing, tools
and more. The museum’s outdoor living history area features a
one-room schoolhouse, a “dog-trot” log house, a barn, an army
barracks, and an adobe house—all typical of Texas architecture
in the mid- to late 1800s. An excellent bookstore and gift shop
are part of the complex. This institute is part of the University
of Texas system.
Ticket cost includes transportation, lunch, and museum admis-
sion.
