Have you ever noticed how little trash
you see along Sun City Texas roadways
and sidewalks—or how the doggie sta-
tions are supplied with bags and trash
cans emptied? It’s all thanks to one man,
a very important volunteer: Leonard
Butcher.
Last year, Leonard’s daughter and son-
in-lawmoved to Sun City Texas. Looking
for a good cause for which to volunteer,
Leonard decided to spend his time work-
ing at The Caring Place in Georgetown.
His son-in-law approached the Landscape
Department to see if there was a posi-
tion available for Leonard; however, all
positions were filled. What was really
needed was a daily inspection of the road-
ways, as well as trash pick-up. Leonard
jumped at the opportunity! He has been
volunteering his time to Sun City Texas
for at least five hours daily. He uses an
all-terrain vehicle to get the job done.
In exchange for his work, he attends
monthly employee safety meetings and
gets a free lunch. Leonard starts his day
at 8 a.m. in rain, freezing temperatures
or sunshine, and he’s always on-the-go
to keep our property in tip-top shape. At
age 77, Leonard is in top condition and
always has a smile and a kind word for
anyone he meets. We are blessed and
proud to have him on our team. When
you see him, send him a smile.
Thank you, Leonard, from all of our staff
and the community! Your donation of
your time is so much appreciated!
Landscaped Maintained Homes

CA NEWS
For those of you who live in a Landscaped Maintained Home
and are thinking about adding a fence or a patio, this article
contains information to assist you with your applications.
First of all, there are different design guidelines for Garden
Homes and Cottage Homes when it comes to fencing. The first
and easiest step is to consult with the wonderful ladies of the
Community Standards Office. Their office is in the same building
as the Billiard Center, located across from the Pickleball Courts.
Once you have decided on a contractor, please make sure that
they are aware of where the irrigation lines and sprinkler heads
are located. It would be a good idea to flag the heads that may
be affected by the fence installation. LMH Customer Service
Technicians Aaron Johnson and David Longacre have been as-
sisting with this procedure when requested by the homeowner. Be
aware that the landscape contractor will no longer be responsible
for mowing, weeding, fertilizing or mulching inside the fenced
area. They will continue to check irrigationmonthly and perform
any repairs under the program. TCB has agreed to service the

fenced yards for a minimal yearly cost. You may call their office
at 512-864-2722 and make any necessary arrangements.
Patios
Any patio extension involves modification of the existing sprin-
kler heads; the main irrigation line may be affected as well. As
per TCEQ (State of Texas) rules, a licensed irrigation contractor
has to perform irrigation work. When you fill out your applica-
tion for modification of your patio, the first question asked by
the Community Standards Department will be, “What about
the irrigation?” If your patio contractor does not have an ir-
rigation license, he can subcontract the work and use TCB
Landscaping so that if there are any warranty issues, TCB
will already be on site.
These little tips are a quick crash course for owners of Land-
scaped Maintained Homes. Your CA Staff and Community
Standards Office are here to assist with the fine details. You
