Our Annual Toy and Treat Drive for
the animal shelters was a huge success!
Many blankets, toys, treats and pet beds
were collected and distributed to local
shelters. We collect items during the en-
tire year for this wonderful cause. Please
contact the club for information on how
to get these items to us. Thanks to all of
you who made donations to the drive;
your contribution makes a big difference
in the lives of the shelter animals.
A new series of dog training classes led
by Ruth Olsen will begin on Saturday
mornings, beginning January 10. The
Beginning, Intermediate and Advanced
classes will run for seven consecutive
weeks. For additional information, please
contact the Sun City Pet Club by phone
or e-mail.
Our first club meeting of the year will
be held on Wednesday, January 21 at
6:30 p.m. in the Activities Center Atrium.
Speakers will be announced at a later
date.
Dog Training Tip
- Dogs can’t speak
like humans do, but they do have their
own “dog body language.” What might
be considered polite to a human might
be perceived as impolite to a dog. For
example, dogs do not like to be ap-
proached head on, whereas humans
perceive that gesture as the correct way
to greet someone. When greeting a dog,
approach slowly from the side, assuming
a non-threatening posture. For more tips
on how to learn to speak “dog body lan-
guage,” consider signing up with “Fido”
for one of our training classes.
