Women Helping Others (WHO) has be-
come a Sun City chartered club! Neigh-
borhood 43 is very proud of this accom-
plishment considering this group had a
very small beginning in January 2010 in
the home of Mollie Hoff. With 12 other
N43 ladies attending, their intentions
were to accumulate donations to help
the local community.
Those original 12 WHO members had a
vision for their work ahead, which read:
“WHO is a cohesive group of people with
a passion and purpose for caring, shar-
ing and serving the extended commu-
nity.” In addition, their mission was to
support existing charitable organizations
with time, donations and assistance
while fostering camaraderie, fellowship
and inclusion.
In 2012, the Meals on Wheels (MOWs)
organization was in financial crisis and
had to create a waiting list for potential
clients. WHO created various fund rais-
ers and raised $25,000, totally eliminat-
ing the MOWs waiting list for Sun City
residents. This is when WHO became
well-known in Georgetown!
In the past four years, WHO has sup-
ported many community needs, includ-
ing those of children, seniors, victims
of sexual assault and domestic violence,
veterans, the disabled, those in financial
crisis and homeless animals.
WHO is now chartered, and the growth
opportunities will only increase. That
first meeting in Mollie’s home has blos-
somed into a blessing for Georgetown.
WHO welcomes all Sun City residents.
Just call Ruthie VanDeMoortel, Presi-
dent, 512-864-2384 or Nina Stancil, Vice
President, 512-868-1609. And, yes, men
are welcome too!
