Georgetown area promote
charitable events
and fundraisers
and
to publish
volunteer opportunities
. We do not publicize monthly
meetings. All information must be received by the first of the month prior

The following special events are taking place in January.
KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS BINGO
Bingo will be held on Sunday, January 4
in the Social Center Ballroom. Doors open
at 5:30 p.m. and games begin at 6 p.m.
Cash prizes will be awarded. All proceeds
are used to support various charitable
activities.
Everyone is invited to join us for an
evening of fun and fellowship. Candy,
chips and beverages are available for
purchase, and you are welcome to bring
whatever snacks and beverages you like.

Long, Professor of Environmental Studies
at Southwestern University, will discuss
“Climate inContext: Exploring the Science,
Rhetoric, and Potential Impacts of Climate
Change.” Dr. Long’s talk will launch the
winter term of Senior University courses,
which begin on Monday, January 26. For

AARP FREE TAX PREPARATION
AARP Tax-Aide Foundation, the nation’s
largest volunteer-run tax assistance and
preparation service, offers special attention
to those 50 and older. Assistance will be
available every Friday from9 a.m. to 4 p.m.,
January 30 throughApril 10 at the Cowan
CreekAmenityCenter. AARPmembership
is not required.
Please bring the following:
• Copy of last year’s income tax return(s)
• W-2 forms from each employer
•Unemployment compensationstatements
• SSA-1099 form if you were paid Social
Security benefits
• All 1099 forms (1099-INT, 1099-DIV,
1099-B, etc.)
• 1099-MISC showing anymiscellaneous
income
• 1099-R form if you received a pension
or annuity
• All forms indicating federal income tax
paid
• All receipts and/or canceled checks if
itemizing deductions
• Social Security cards or other official
documentation for yourself and all
dependents
MENTORING
By dedicating as little as 30 minutes a
week with a student, you can improve
self-esteem and encourage kids to stay
in school, improve academic skills, and
provide support for newbehaviors, attitudes
and ambitions. Mentoring opportunities
are available at every GISD school. For
