Come help celebrate a successful and
fun year at the Garden Club December
holiday party andmeeting. Wear red and
green and bring a hearty appetizer or
some snacks to share. Christmas cookies
and drinks will be provided. You can skip
lunch that day―there’s sure to be enough
food. Guests will be the 2013 Garden
Tour homeowners and representatives
from the Georgetown agencies that re-
ceived donations from the tour proceeds.
We will have an ongoing slideshow of the
homeowner yards and lots of door prizes.
Please note the start time of 1 p.m.
and that the location of the meeting
is at Cowan Creek rather than The
Oaks as previously announced.
2014 Dues and Membership
2014 promises to be another great year
for the Garden Club. We are planning
informative programs and the “Sixth
Annual Sun City Garden Tour” to be
held the first weekend inMay. You don’t
have to consider yourself a “gardener” to
join. There is something for everyone. We
have an educational program, a chance to
get your gardening questions answered,
plant sharing, refreshments and door
prices at every meeting. 2014 dues for
new and renewing members can be paid
online through the Sun City Texas web-
site or bring a check for $12 (payable to
SCTXCA) to the December meeting.

dividual level of hike difficulty, ranging

Howard (Bunky) Bensel, our founding
president, passed away recently. Our
sympathy goes to his wife, Beverly, a
HAWKS member.
The HAWKS and their SIG (Shuffle-
board) enjoyed a delicious barbecue din-
ner at the Legacy Hills Park Pavilion on
September 30 with 42 in attendance.
The HAWKS are grateful to the CA for
providing our group with 10 new score-
boards.
We are now playing at the courts at 1
p.m. in the afternoons on Tuesday and
Thursdays. Our congratulations to
Larry Amundson, who placed first in a
recent tournament.
Shuffleboard SIG
Sun City Texas has an active Shuffle-
board group; approximately 20 indi-
viduals belong to the Shuffleboard SIG
and 20 other residents also play at the
two courts (adjacent to Bocce Courts,
and next to Horseshoes and Washers).
The courts are open every day to resi-
dents. Although there is no league play,
members of the SIG and other residents
gather at the courts at 9 a.m. every Tues-
day and Thursday to play for one hour.
