I remember when...
Driving through the community, it’s easy to see why you and 13,000 others decided to call Sun City
Texas home. As you stroll down Del Webb and Sun City Boulevards, three beautiful golf courses
blend with the natural landscape of the Texas Hill Country. But it didn’t always look like this...those
who were here in the beginning had to use a little imagination! A few of our staff members have
shared their memories below.
I remember when Williams Drive was a small,
two lane country road coming out to Sun City
Texas. Back in the old days, once you drove
past the city pool at Lakeway Drive (close to
where Sonic is now), there was nothing until you
got to Sun City Texas. I remember officing on
Williams Drive in trailers when we first opened Sun
City Texas. This was before the Social Center and
Legacy Hills Clubhouse were opened for business.

I remember when you drove in to Sun City – I remember when Del Webb Boulevard was
there was farm land on both sides of the entrances the only entrance into Sun City.
and longhorns grazing in the grass. And we had - Sheila Diller, Golf Shop Manager and Resident
an old farmhouse out back where we had cook-
offs – a wild game party and crawfish boil. (Serving Sun City for 11 years)
