DOUBLE DEER FOR DIXIE
Dixie and John Turnbow watched a doe waddle through
their yard early one morning, only to discover that the next
time they looked out the window—there was a newborn
fawn curled up in their yard! “We first thought it was a
coiled rattlesnake. Thank goodness it was a pretty fawn!”
Dixie said. Unbelievably, only hours later, they discovered
a second newborn fawn sleeping at the base of their St.
Francis statue. (St. Francis is the patron saint of animals
and ecology.)
Read more about deer fawning, which started in mid-May,
and what to do if you see a fawn in your yard on page 9.
