CATHY FRANCIS
The Locker
CA Chartered Clubs (Non-Sports)
Committee
Georgettes’ Costume Director
Cathy Francis moved with William, her
husband, to Sun City Texas in Decem-
ber 2009, after their home was severely
damaged by Hurricane Ike in Galveston.
She very quickly got involved in Sun City
Texas, joining the Sun City Georgettes,
the Actors & Theatre Arts Guild, the
Hiking Club and the Computer Club.
She has also just been chosen to be
on the Chartered Clubs (Non-Sports)
Committee for the Community Associa-
tion. Currently, Cathy is the Georgettes’
Costume Director, in which she man-
ages the sewing committee. She’s been
traveling all over Texas to organize a
“Party Dress Store” for the Senior Prom,
hosted by the Georgettes on April 26,
2014. Cathy served as past President of
Georgettes in 2011 and 2012, was Presi-
dent of the Dance & Drill Club in 2011,
and directed the successful dance show,
“The Nifty 50s” in 2012.
Shortly after arriving in Sun City Texas,
Cathy learned about the large numbers
of homeless students in Georgetown―
mostly high school students, but there
are also some homeless children in grade
school. She was concerned and so she
contacted John Copelan, who has re-
cently become the Executive Director
of the Board for The Locker, formerly
known as The Eagle Locker. She asked
what they needed and if she could help,
as she still owns and operates “BOSS
Promotions,” a promotional products/
printing company.
Cathy has committed her time and en-
ergy for the past two years, (2-4 hours
per day), creating, designing, and print-
ing brochures, business cards, postcards,
name tags, backpacks, polo shirts and
hundreds of T-shirts for The Locker. All
of this done at her cost, saving The Lock-
er money and helping them to support
the students in need. She has created
some marketing items that the students
sell at ball games to raise money for the
group, such as wrist bands, lanyards,
T-shirts, and promotional products.
Cathy has a big heart, high energy and
is always willing to step forward to help
those who are in need. It has been said
that you should ask a busy person if you
want the job done, and Cathy would be
that choice!
Giving back
Cathy Francis dedicates much of her time to volunteering, most notably with The
Locker program at the Georgetown Independent School District. Using her exper-
tise in printing and design, she has helped The Locker create a distinct identity in
Georgetown. Cathy also commits her time to the CA Chartered Clubs (Non-Sports)
Committee and the Georgettes, as well as creating costumes with the sewing com-
mittee for the Georgettes.
