Get Involved – Apply for a CA Committee!
Submitted by the Nominating Committee
It’s time to apply for a CA Committee! At this time, a total of 21 positions
are available on 10 of the committees. You can find a description of each
committee, as well as the number of open positions, by going to the Sun
City Texas website at
> Site Index > Apply for an Advisory
Committee.
Soon, look for the Committee Application forms on the new orange and blue
“Get Involved ” banners in the Cowan Creek Amenity Center, Putters Cafe,
Texas Drive Fitness Center, Activities Center, and Social Center; and an
online version of the application on the Sun City Texas website.
Applications will be available the week of February 2. The deadline to ap-
ply is Friday, March 14. Interviews will be conducted the week of April 14.
Spring Planting
With spring approaching, it is a good time
to take a look around to see which plants
need to be replaced. Recent efforts with
our highly successful Water Wise and
Firewise programs suggest staying with
native plants that require less water and
aren’t of an oily nature. Check the Xeri-
scape section of the Design Guidelines if
you are using a lot of rock, or removing
turf from your yard, to be sure your plan
meets the standards before turning in
your B-1 application.
Our Garden Club has put together a
beautiful binder (available at both Moni-
tor locations) with pictures to help when
choosing plants. As long as the size of the
bed, material for the edging, and one plant
per 100 square feet guideline is adhered
to, an application isn’t necessary, even if
you are changing out the edging of the
bed. Just remember to keep all plants
under 36 inches in the sight triangle of a
corner lot, and in the last 20 feet from the
rear perimeter of a golf course lot.
A landscape project worksheet has been
developed by the Community Standards
Office to help you with landscape proj-
ects that require a B-1 Application Form.
The worksheet can be picked up from our
office, or can be emailed to you at your
request. The worksheet condenses the De-
sign Guidelines requirements, providing
a simple checklist to be sure everything
is provided for the Committee’s review.
Election Signs
If you want to have an election sign in
your yard for the March primary, be sure
to review the Political Sign Policy online:
• Log in at
• Under the Community Association
tab, click on CA Documents
• Scroll down to the Policies subhead,
and click on Political Sign Policy listed
below
Valentine’s Day
Finally, since Valentine’s Day is Febru-
ary 14, and page 55 of the Design Guide-
lines allows decorations to be displayed
for seven days prior, during, and seven
days after the holiday, feel free to put
out hearts, flowers, and flags with cu-
pids in celebration from February 7 to
February 22.
