In our five-room studio, members cre-
ate long-lasting, 3-dimensional objects
for both practical use and visual beauty.
Equipment, tools, glazes, brushes and
clay are sold to members at cost and dues
are just $12 a year.
The studio is open every day of the week.
Members’ creations are displayed in the
windows of the club as well as on its web-
site above.
Come visit our studio behind the Fabric
& Fiber Club and learn about ceramics,
hand building, wheel throwing, and china
painting. Monitors will gladly guide you
on a short tour and tell you about upcom-
ing classes. Enjoy fun and companionship
in this friendly atmosphere.
Ceramics:
Existing forms, such as
plates, bowls, vases, animals, Christmas
trees, and Santa Clauses, can be painted
and glazed to your own design.
Hand Building:
For those who like to
sculpture from scratch, red or white,
and low- or high-fire clays are available.
All supplies are sold at cost to members!
When completed, objects are fired in one
of five resident kilns that are operated by
experienced members. Beginners’ classes
are held frequently.
Wheel Throwing:
Wheel throwing is
a unique skill. Six potter’s wheels are
available, and classes are held for both be-
ginning and more experienced members.
China Painting:
Create your own de-
signs on china. One room and one kiln
are designated for painted china objects,
such as dishes and cups. Those interested
in a beginning class in china painting,
contact Dorothy Riddle, 512-864-0061,
or Doris DeWitte, 512-869-1971.
Current Issues Club - NEW!
Friday, February 21, 10 a.m., CCF
Contact: Karen G. Bishop,
By the time you read this, the Current
Issues Club may officially be the newest
Chartered Club in Sun City Texas. On
12/23/13, the Charter Club application
was submitted to the CA. Seventy-one
(71) charter members joined in just 63
days of the first meeting in October.
Mission:
The mission of the Club is
to provide a
nonpartisan
environment
where a
respectful exchange of ideas
among members can promote
discussion
and a
deeper understanding of current
issues.
Program:
Members choose a topic for
the next month at the end of each meet-
ing. At the program, background infor-
mation is provided for up to 10 minutes
and then members participate in discus-
sion. Members complete a short evalu-
ation to help improve the program. Be
patient with us as the program format
is evolving; we are trying to discover
the best ways to have members share
research and participate in the discus-
sion. The topic will be displayed online
once the club microsite is set up. In the
meantime, there are flyers posted on the
bulletin boards about two weeks before
the meeting.
Guests:
Resident guests are welcome to
observe. If you would like to participate,
come early and become a member.
Politics:
This is a nonpartisan club wel-
coming all points of view. Discussionmay
include political topics to achieve our goal
of a “deeper understanding of current
issues.” Campaigning is not allowed.
