Mandola’s Italian Market provides an adventure into a won-
derful world of touch, smell and taste. A family tradition since
1912, Mandola’s grocery is stocked with fresh-made breads,
meats, cheeses, olive oils and Italian spices―a pantry wor-
thy of your favorite Italian grandmother. Italian wines are
a specialty and,

Mandola’s chefs prepare brick-oven baked entrees, homemade
soups, salads, sandwiches and pastas from family recipes.
Lunch choices: Margherita Pizza (6”) withmarinara, freshmoz-
zarella, basil, special olive oils, and amista salad; Mandola’sHero
Half Sandwich (five types of Italian salami and ham, provolone
cheese, lettuce, olive relish, onions, tomatoes, and house vinai-
grette on homemade rustic bun), served with Minestrone soup;
or a lunch portion of spaghetti and meatball - Mama’s Sunday
tomato sauce, meatball, white wine, onions, garlic and basil,
served with mista salad. Drink included; dessert on your own.

Most of us know what
it’s like to choose fabrics, flooring, counter
tops – all of those things that go along with
purchasing a new or resale home. Learn how
Wilsonart, one of the nation’s leading brands of decorative lami-
nate, kitchen, and bath countertops, makes its products. Ralph
Wilson, Sr., a retired laminate executive, founded the company
in 1956 in Temple as a way to fill his ‘free time.’ His goal was
to deliver laminate anywhere in the US in ten days. To ensure
this still happens, the company maintains its own fleet of trucks
and has twenty facilities. The tour is 1 ½ hours and has several

First we will head to the San An-
tonio market square where you can grab an
early lunch or do some shopping at El Mer-
cado, the largest Mexican shopping center
in the city. Your early lunch choices include Mi Tierra Café &
Bakery, La Margarita Restaurant and Oyster Bar, or one of
the food vendors in the market.
Next, we will go to the SAS Factory and General Store for
a tour of their handcrafted shoes. Most of their shoes have
polyurethane soles that cushion your feet on millions of tiny
air bubbles so you are literally walking on air. In 1998, they
developed a General Store with a complete line of SAS shoes
and handbags. Gradually, a kitchen, a candy store and an ice
cream parlor emerged.
Ticket cost includes transportation, SAS Factory tour includ-
ing a chance to win a pair of shoes, and time to shop in the
San Antonio market.
