Let’s start with the basics when it comes to
using the Automatic External Defibrillator
(AED):
A. AEDs are accurate and easy to use.
The
important thing is for you to
try
even if you feel
absolutely terrified and have not been trained. Simply put, an
AED is a machine with a computer inside that can recognize
a heart problem that requires a shock. It will tell a rescuer
when a shock is needed and give a shock when needed. There
are four simple steps for using an AED.
1.
Turn AED on.
Follow the AED’s visual and audio
prompts.
2. Attach the pads on the victim as directed by the illus-
trated instructions.
3. Let the AED check the victim’s heart.
4. Push the shock button if the AED prompts you to do so.
B. Do you know where the 12 Community Association
AEDs are located throughout Sun City Texas?
That’s
right, there are 12. Many of us walk by an AED every day,
but are probably unaware it is on the wall! Each machine is
checked monthly by the CAMaintenance staff to be sure it is
in working order and the pads are in-date. The defibrillators
are located at the:
• Ball Park/Dog Park—Wall inside the Ladies’ restroom
• Wood Shop—Wall at the First Aid Station outside the
Ladies’ restroom
• Tennis Courts—Wall on the restroom building hallway,
near the drink machine
• Billiards Center/Pickleball Courts—Wall outside the
Billiards Center front door
• Social Center—Wall behind the Monitor’s Desk
• Texas Drive Craft Center—Wall outside the restrooms
• Texas Drive Fitness Center—Wall in the fitness machine/
weight room
• Activities Center—Wall behind the Monitor’s Desk
• Legacy Hills Pro Shop/The Oaks—Interior hallway wall
near the restrooms between the Pro Shop and The Oaks
• White Wing Golf Course—Wall in the entry hall of Café
on the Green (soon to be Putters) and the Pro Shop
• Cowan Creek Amenity Center—There are two AEDs
here; one is at the Monitor’s Desk and the other is inside
the Fitness Center
C. Now, let’s talk training.
Several hundred of your neighbors
and CA employees are trained! The Emergency Manage-
ment Committee offers CPR/AED/First Aid classes on a
regular basis throughout the year. The cost is minimal and
the schedule is in the CA Communicator regularly and on
the Emergency Management Committee website. After very
little training, most people can learn CPR and how to use an
AED confidently.

Avoid long lines at the Member Services
Office when paying your HOA dues! Ef-
fective December 1, residents who wish
to pay their HOA dues in full by
credit
card
may now do so online with
ePay-
ment Services
.
I’m already signed up for eBills.
What is the difference between
eBills and
ePayment
?
eBills:
The Accounting Department
emails an “eBill” to homeowners who
choose to “go paperless” and view their
CA billing statement online. You cannot
pay
your CA bills with eBills; you may
only
view
the billing statement.
ePayment
:
ePayment
is an online ser-
vice that allows residents to
pay their
CA statement balances with a cred-
it card
from their personal computer.
(
ePayment
does not accept payment
from mobile devices or debit cards.) If
you choose this method of payment, you
must sign up online for
ePayment
.
Howdo I signup for
ePayment Services
?
The insert in this edition of the Sun Rays
tells you how to sign up for
ePayment
Services
.
Which accounts may I pay online
with
ePayment
?
With
ePayment Services
, you may pay
your balances from all CA accounts,
including HOA dues, member-charged
fitness classes, golf lessons, punch cards,
and golf annual/combo pass activity.
I already pay my HOA dues by bank
draft. Do I have to switch to
ePayment
?
You
do not
need to switch to
ePayment
Services
if you pay your HOA dues by
bank draft.
ePayment
is set up to accept
payment by
credit card only
. Automatic
bank drafts are not supported by
ePay-
ment Services
. If you are already signed
up to have your dues drafted, and don’t
want to make any changes, you do not
need to do anything to continue with
that method.
If you want to start paying your HOA
dues by bank draft - or wish to “go green”
by signing up for eBills - contact Learhea
Grant at
.
Payments for HOA dues and Landscaped
Maintained Homes fees are due by
January 31, 2014.
