Hank Haliasz: A Lecture on Mars
After a brief review of Mars, Hank will
discuss how we could put humans on
the surface of the Red Planet and why
we should.
As the head of the Astronomy SIG for
many years, Hank shared his knowledge
of astronomy with members and provided
leadership, resulting in the growth of the
SIG. Recently, Hank resigned from that
leadership position, so this is a special
opportunity to learn from him and to
thank him for his contribution to the
Nature Club.
It’s a great time to join the Nature
Club!
Dues are reduced for the remain-
der of the year!

October brings with it cooler temperatures,
turning leaves, football games and exciting
activities for the Sun City Pet Club.
As announced last month, every effort is
being made to reschedule the Ft. Hood
K9 demonstration. Unfortunately, the
decisions are made by the military and
the wheels turn slowly. Please be as-
sured a notice will be sent when the
event is rescheduled, so watch your
weekly CA Communicator for further
information.
The annual Blessing of the Animals will
be held at 9:15 a.m. on Friday, October 4
at the Cowan Creek Amphitheater. All
pets and their owners are welcome if the
animals are on leashes or in carriers.
Each year the Sun City Pet Club spon-
sors a toy and treat drive for homeless
animals. This will be held in Decem-
