Our April speaker is a true local, born
and raised in Bartlett, Texas and now a
Sun City resident. Bill Moore, who an-
swers to “Wild Bill,” is an expert knife
and tool sharpener. He’ll explain how to
properly sharpen garden tools and how
to keep them sharp. Come hear Bill be-
fore you purchase a new shovel or pruner
this spring and you might decide you can

Garden Tour
Tickets are now on sale for the 2016 Sun
City Garden Tour held the weekend of
May 14 – 15. You can purchase them for
$12 using the Sun City online ticket sys-
tem or at the Community Association of-
fice in the Texas Drive Social Center. The
garden tour is a great opportunity to pick
up landscaping ideas from seven beautiful
Sun City yards and tour the horticulture
gardens. The net proceeds from the tour
are donated to local charities.

Hiking in the spring is the best time of
the year to see the wildflowers in Texas!
Saturday mornings 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

and trails the Hiking Club will be going
to this spring include: Inks Lake, Mule
Shoe Bend and McKinney Falls State
Park. Be sure not to miss a favorite club
hike to Lake Austin, as well as local hikes

Newly arrived homeowners have been
joining our club, but we need more players.
Long-time residents are missing out on fun
and fellowship! Many of you have played
horseshoes in parks and at family picnics,
so what are you waiting for to join us? Our
club maintains 10 well-kept courts, so come
on down!
Shuffleboard SIG
Sun City Texas has an active Shuffleboard
group; approximately 20 individuals
belong to the Shuffleboard SIG and 20
other residents also play at the two courts
(adjacent to Bocce Courts, and next to
Horseshoes and Washers). The courts are
open every day to residents. Although there
is no league play, members of the SIG and
other residents gather at the courts at 9
a.m. every Tuesday and Thursday to play
for one hour. Newcomers are welcome to
join us any time.

Spring is always busy at Sun City Gar-
dens as all our 265 garden beds change
over from winter crops to vegetables that
grow in warmer weather. Tomatoes, cu-

Bearded Iris: The Horticulture Club
(HC) maintains 11 dedicated garden
beds for the production of Bearded Iris.
Cared for by Iris-loving members, Iris are
the year. You are welcome to come out any

to see them in bloom. We are also looking
forward to next month when our garden
becomes a “must see” stop in the annual
Sun City Garden Club tour on May 14-15.
