With the upcoming election on November 8, it
is a good time to review our political sign policy
at https://www.sctexas.org/Files/Library/POL-
POLITICALSIGNPOLICY-20140306.PDF.
The policy states that residents can have only one sign
per issue and/or race, no larger than 4’ x 6’, mounted
on either one or two stakes, no higher than 6’ from the
ground. Signs may be displayed beginning August 10,
and must be removed no later than one week after the
election, November 15.
Alleged violations to the policy should be emailed to the
Director of Community Standards, Carl Zimmerman,
[email protected]. Please include the address
of the violation in the subject line and the specific
violation in the body of the email (example: two signs
for same candidate).

information such as where to find replacement house
numbers, etc. If you have any questions about the FAQ,

COPs common-sense safety tips

COPs wants to remind you to be safe, whether you’re in Sun
City Texas or outside it. Here are some general safety tips:
AT HOME ADVICE
– Keep the door connecting your garage to the house locked. If
you go on vacation, unplug the automatic garage door opener
and padlock the track. Once inside the garage, a thief can
take his time getting into the house without anyone noticing
(unless you told your neighbors you will be away!).
– When home, keep your doors locked, even if you have an
observant guard dog. Most burglars enter through the front,
back or garage doors.
– Sun City has low crime rates so we get out of the habit of
locking our cars. Not a good idea! Did you know if you live
in a state close to an international border you’re more likely
to be a victim of auto theft? Lock your car.
SHOPPING SUGGESTIONS
– Don’t park next to a van. Someone could wait inside until
you come along, and take your packages and wallet. If you
come out of a store and a van is parked next to your car, go
back into the store and ask for an escort to your car. It may
sound dramatic, but don’t take a chance and get robbed.
– If you shop in the evening, park near a light and be aware of
your surroundings. Keep your keys ready as you leave the
store. An older person, especially if alone and in the dark,
is easy pickings.
DRIVING ALERTS
– Don’t carry more passengers in your golf cart than you
can seat - especially grandkids. It’s an accident waiting to
happen, whether it’s a tip-over or a spill-out.
– If you’re driving on the street or highway in a right hand
lane and see an emergency vehicle with lights flashing pulled
over on the shoulder ahead of you, you are required to move
over one lane to the left. If this is not possible, you must slow
down to 20 mph below the posted speed limit. Violators are
subject to hefty fines.
COPs help keep you safe...join us and keep two cars on
the road day and night! Volunteer two hours twice a
month, driving or staffing the office in your home. We’ll
train and outfit you. Call 512-966-1362, Monday through
Friday, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Monday, Sept. 5
All facilities, except CA business offices, will be open
on Labor Day, Monday, Sept. 5. Business will resume
normal hours and operations on Tuesday, Sept. 6. Enjoy
a round of golf or go for a swim at one of Sun City’s
Fitness Centers!
