CITY OF GEORGETOWN BROCHURES

The City of Georgetown Inspections and Permitting
Department, along with the SCTX Modifications
Committee, has published a brochure titled
Planning a Project? Important Information about
the Permitting Process. The brochure lists most of
the projects that require a city permit, explains
why getting a city permit and inspection is
important and has a checklist to follow that helps
ensure quality work from an ethical contractor.
You’ll find plenty of concise, easy-to-read information in the
brochure, including phone numbers for the Community Association
Community Standards Office and the City of Georgetown
Inspections and Permitting Office as well as their email and
physical addresses. Pick up a copy of the brochure from the
Community Standards office, located across from the Member
Services Office in the Social Center.

TREES

If a tree is no longer viable, it can be removed without paperwork
if it is 19” in circumference or less when measured 12” from the
ground. If larger, you can replace it with a tree from Appendix
E of the Design Guidelines without paperwork. Everything else
will require an application.
When a tree is being removed, remember to have the stump ground
down to ground level so there is nothing left aboveground. A tree
that has become brittle or diseased and is a hazard can be removed
immediately. Just remember to take a picture of the tree and, if
possible, have an arborist verify the condition. Then submit an
application after the fact with the documentation.

NO PAPERWORK LIST

The “No Paperwork” list at 2.9 of your Design Guidelines lists 54
modifications that can be completed without an approval from the
Modifications Committee if the criteria in the paragraph in the
box to the far right is followed.
