Bits from Ginny’s Desk CA NEWS

With the election just a week away, we would like to remind
you that political signs for the November 8 election need to
be removed by November 18. We appreciate the good will and
tolerance displayed throughout this election season.
PLANT REPLACEMENTS
As you remove political signs, take a look around your yard and
see if there are any declining plants that need to be replaced or
removed. Maintenance of established beds does not require an
application for modifications, so feel free to change out plants,
groundcover and shrubs. Note: changing from mulch to rock
is a significant change that requires a review and approval by
the Modifications Committee via Form B-1, the Modifications
Committee’s application for change.
EXTERIOR PAINT
Another change often considered at this time of year is exterior
paint. This is a good time to refresh the color you have without
the need for paperwork. If you want a new look, submit an
application for modification (Form B-2) to receive approval and
a permit to change the exterior color of your home.
HOLIDAY DECORATIONS
November brings Thanksgiving and the start of the holiday
season. Holiday decorations can be displayed from November 15
through January 15. This is the time to decorate your mailboxes,
light up your homes and add appropriate displays to the yard.
Happy Thanksgiving!
Time to change your clocks -
and smoke alarm batteries!
Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday,
Nov. 6, allowing us an extra hour
of sleep―and a great reminder
to change the batteries in our
smoke alarms, or replace the
alarm unit entirely. Batter-
ies should be changed at
least once per year, while
the smoke alarm unit should
be replaced every 8-10 years. A
properly installed and maintained
smoke alarm is the only thing in your home that can
alert you to a fire 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
According to the National Fire Protection Association,
almost two-thirds of home fire deaths resulted from fires
in properties without working smoke alarms. While
you’re setting back your clocks, also consider checking
your smoke alarm―it could just save your life.
