Congratulations to all our winners!
Thank you to Becky Scofield and Pat
Blankenship, our 2014 Tournament
Chairpersons, and all their helpers for
their good work. Margo Maddox and her
teammade our after-tournament social
a great success!
It seems like just a couple of months ago
I was writing the January 2014 entry,
but here we are – 2015!
Our November Mulligans for Charity
effort was not as successful as we had
hoped, largely due to the inclement
weather on many of our play-days.
Our members’ continued support of
this good cause was appreciated, but
unfortunately, we still fell short of our
$1000 goal for The Locker.
It was also during November that our
dedicated members made dozens of
cookies and provided a wide variety of
pre-packaged snacks for the two-day
MGA Member-Member Tournament.
Even though the second day of the
tournament was canceled due to freezing
blustery weather, the men showed their
appreciation for the effort we had put
forth. With the generosity of the guys
playing in that tournament, we were able
to supplement what our members had
contributed and present a $1000 check
to Karen Crosby, founder and director
of The Locker, at our end of the year
banquet.
The Social Committee did an outstanding
job transforming the ballroom into
a holiday retreat with magnificent
centerpieces of red, white and silver!
While the Stone Hill band played, guests
socialized and enjoyed a scrumptious
catered buffet. Susan Dimaline,
Tournament Director, presented end
of the year awards, and our President,
Betty Ann Preston, received a thank
you gift from the membership.
The 2015 officers will officially be
installed at the first meeting of the year,
to be held on January 13 at 11 a.m. in
the Jarrell Room of Cowan Creek. The
WGA 9-Hole Group

first tee time that day will be at 1 p.m.
We really want to thank the Sun City
Golf Committee for permitting us to
return to afternoon tee times during the
winter months - this decision is greatly
appreciated!
Editor’s Note: In the December issue, Sun
Rays mistakenly omitted Sylvia Quillen
as the newly elected 2015 tournament
chair. The WGA 9-Hole Group 2015
officers are as follows:
President..................Betty Ann Preston
Vice President.................. Kempa Rider
Secretary......................... Paula Elmers
