Women Helping Others

WHO welcomes all residents. We are a
cohesive group with a passion for caring,
sharing and serving the extended com-
munity. Our mission is to support exist-
ing charitable organizations with time,
donations and assistance while fostering
camaraderie, fellowship and inclusion. We
meet the fourth Monday of the month. The
agenda includes a salad luncheon and a
presentation from a nonprofit or public
service organization, followed by our busi-
ness meeting. The members bring either
a salad or dessert to share and make an
optional $10 donation at each meeting.
Annual dues are $10 and may be paid
online or at the monthly meeting. Guests
and prospective members are always wel-
come to join us. Please let us know you will
be attending so that we can welcome you
with a name tag and a place to sit. Plan
to arrive around 1 p.m. to find a seat and
chat before the meeting starts at 1:15.
Our speaker for September will be Su-
sie Flatau with Full Circle, a shelter for
abused women and children in our area.
We understand that until Susie tackled
this issue, there was no safe place for
women to go. We’ll learn along with you
from this accomplished teacher, writer,
artist and speaker.
Come and see WHO we are and the won-
derful things we are doing in our com-
munity.

Crafts that the members have made are
always available for sale at the woodshop
when open. If you have a favorite piece of
furniture to be repaired, we do that also.
Drop by and see our display of crafts or
take a tour of our shop if you are interested Zoomers Singles (Zingles)
in seeing it after our expanded shop opens
in September.
We maintain a fully equipped woodshop
with jointers, planers, table, band and
miter saws, routers, sanders, hand tools
and clamps. We have on hand a variety of
hardwoods for members to buy.
We provide training classes and extensive
library resources. We conduct orientation
classes twice a month and enhanced class-
es quarterly. Our club and shop are set up
to accommodate all levels of woodworking.
New members: All new members must
pay through the sctexas.org website or at
the Member Services Office. Please bring
your ticket to the shop to sign up for the
orientation and safety class and our one
on one training.
Any member can participate in Toys for
Tots, making toys for children at Christ-
mas; we also make projects for Camp
Discovery and help kids fighting cancer
assemble them.

Zoomers has many active social groups
with interests in books, table games,
bowling, movies, dining out, gourmet
cooking, wine and beer tasting. To join

for dining, wine, beer tasting, and movies.
The Zingles will have their final quarterly
social Saturday, Oct. 7, 4:30-6:30 p.m. at
the Legacy Hills Pavilion. Contact Bob

ZIE (Inside Events)
Our next ZIE event will be Denim and
Diamonds on Sunday, Oct. 22 in the
ballroom. A full barbecue dinner will
be provided by Doublesky Catering
with appetizers and peach cobbler for
dessert. Beverages are included along
with fantastic music by Jeff Woolsey and
the Dance Hall Kings. All this for $22 a
person!
Tickets go on sale on Sept. 12 at 8 a.m. in
the Andice Room at Cowan Creek. Plan
on attending this fun event.
ZOE (Outside Events)
Our Zoomers Outside Events volunteers
have been busy setting up trips and
cruises. All our trips are on the Zoomers
website. Also, if you would like to join our
ZOE volunteer group, please call Anne
Henry.
