The remarkable true-life story of Fort Worth native Rickey Hill, who overcame physical obstacles to pursue his dream of playing major league baseball. Young Rickey wears leg braces due to a degenerative disease but shows an extraordinary ability for hitting a baseball. His stern father (played by Dennis Quaid) discourages him from the game, trying to shield the boy from further injuries. As a young man, Rickey becomes a baseball phenomenon, but his desire to try out for a major league scout divides his family and threatens his dream of playing professionally. |
