Dinner Out For Eight ("48")
What is Dinner Out "48"? Dinner Out "48" is a grouping of 4 to 8 people dining out together in Georgetown or surrounding areas as decided by members of each group. (Groups may vary in size depending upon registrations.) The group typically meets once per month with each member (for singles) or each household (for couples) alternating the coordination (i.e., selecting a restaurant, making reservations, arranging carpools, etc.). This is a great way to meet your neighbors and discover some new and fun places to eat! New groupings are selected annually.
How Do I Join Dinner Out "48"? Enrollment is annually beginning in the late October / early November time-frame. Once you see the enrollment notice on the N48 website, you may register. Deadline for registration is typically the first Friday in January.
How are Dinner Groups Selected? During the January Social Committee Meeting and based on the number of registrations received, names are randomly drawn and groupings are formed accordingly at the meeting. Minor adjustments may be made as there is an attempt not to put the same people from previous groupings together if at all possible so that each year the groups change in order to have a variety of people and venues. Additionally, a member of the Social Committee will inform all groups of their groupings and who was selected or volunteered to be the initial host.
How/When Does First Dinner Out "48" Begin for the Year? In January/February the initial host from each group will send an email to their group suggesting a venue along with potential dates. It is up to the initial host as well as group members to select a location of their choice; however, it is recommended that hosts confirm whether any group members have dietary restrictions. It is also suggested that you check your email frequently for dates/locations of your monthly "Dinner Out 48" get-together and/or updates.
