The information below can be found in the June Sun Rays. Fraud and scams are common in the U.S. and Sun City residents are targets. Most older adults know someone who has been scammed. The purpose of the recently formed Anti-Fraud Program (AFP) is to inform and educate Sun City residents to help them recognize scams and avoid them. We plan to do that in several ways, including the following: - Distribute brief handouts describing common scams and how you can avoid them. - Offer in-person presentations by members of the AFP and outside experts. - Maintain an outline handbook on www.sctexas.org. - Describe common scams in this column. The AFP can't stop all fraud and scams in Sun City Texas, but we can help residents improve their odds of avoiding many of the common ones. |
