The following special events are taking place in February and March.
AARP TAX-AIDE PROGRAM
The nation’s largest volunteer-run tax
preparation and assistance service offers
special attention to those age 60 and older.
Assistancewill be available every Tuesday
from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., and every
Wednesday from12:30-4:30 p.m., through
April 10 at CowanCreek Amenity Center.
Please bring the following:
• copy of last year’s income tax return(s);
• W-2 forms from each employer;
• unemployment compensation state-
ments;
• SSA-1099 form if you received Social
Security benefits;
• all 1099 forms (1099-INT, 1099-DIV,
1099-B, etc.)
• 1099-Misc. showing any miscella-
neous income;
• 1099-R form if you received a pension
or annuity;
• all forms indicating federal income
tax paid;
• all receipts or canceled checks if item-
izing deductions;
• Social Security cards or other official
documentation for yourself and all de-
pendents.
SU Brown Symposium
OnFebruary 6-7, SouthwesternUniversity
will host its 36th annual Brown Sympo-
sium, titled “Healing: The Art & Science
ofMedicine.” It will address genomicmedi-
cine, nanotechnology inmedicine, the craft
of medical practice, global health, and the
economics of health care reform, 9 a.m. to
5 p.m. Thursday and 8:30 a.m. to noon on

Symphony gala
On Friday, February 7 at 6 p.m. in the
Social Center Ballroom, the Georgetown
Symphony Society will present the sec-
ond annual “Valentine Gala” fundraiser.
Tickets are $75 per person, with reserved

Knights of Columbus Bingo
Bingo in the Ballroomwill be on Sundays,
February 9 and 23 in the Social Center
Ballroom. Doors open at 5 p.m., and
games start at 6 p.m. Cash prizes will be

Senior U free lecture
There will be a free lecture on Thursday,
February 13 at 7 p.m. in the Social Center
Ballroom, in which Fred Burton will dis-
cuss “Under Fire: the Untold Story of the
Attack in Benghazi.” Mr. Burton is one of
the world’s foremost experts on security,
terrorists, and terrorist organizations, and
is vice president of Austin-based Strat-

Georgetown Symphony
On Sunday, February 16 at 4 p.m. at the
GHS Klett Center for the Performing
Arts, the Georgetown Symphony Soci-
ety will present the Round Rock Sym-
phony in “A Spanish Fantasy” of works
by Richard Strauss, Rimsky-Korsakov,
and Joaquín Rodrigo, featuring guitarist
Thomas Echols. Tickets ($30 for adults in
Premium Seating, $25 in General Seat-
ing, $5 for students in either section) are

Assistance League
Assistance LeagueGeorgetownArea pres-
ents the third annual Winter Fundraiser
onMonday, February 24 in the Social Cen-
ter Ballroom, beginning at 11 a.m. This
event is entitled “Bells, Books &Brunch”
and tickets are $20 for a nice day of en-
tertainment and an opportunity to help
the Assistance League carry out its vari-
ous philanthropic programs. Enjoy book
reviews by four local authors, a fashion
show, live and silent auctions, and more.

Presented by CongregationHavurah Sha-

San Gabriel Women’s Club
The 7th annual Fat Tuesday Games
Day and Luncheon will be Tuesday,
March 4 from 10 a.m. to 2:15 p.m. at
the San Gabriel Park Community Cen-

Backpack Buddies, scholarships to
