The 2014 Men’s Golf Association (MGA)
tournament schedule starts next month,
so now is the perfect time to join the
MGA if you have not done so already.
Our 2013 tournaments were well attend-
ed and very successful. Almost $50,000
in sweeps was awarded to 438 of our 604
members. To be eligible for your share of
the 2014 sweeps payouts, you must join
the MGA. Annual MGA membership is
only $15, which could be the best invest-
ment you make this year. Do yourself a
favor. Join the MGA in 2014!
The 2014 tournament calendar starts
with the BFS Spring Member/Member
on March 26-27. The Don Hewlett Presi-
dent’s Cup, where even the worst score
wins big, follows on May 18-19. And,
don’t overlook our weekly Playday events
held every Wednesday (except those days
which are reserved for an MGA major
tournament). Details for each tourna-
ment and the format for each Playday
event are listed on the MGA website.
A great deal of our tournament success
can be attributed to the support of our
generous sponsors. So, when you visit
our sponsors, please take a minute to
thank them for their support. If you’d
like to help the MGA fundraising effort
by recommending a new sponsor, we’d
love to hear from you. Feel free to contact
Walter Connolly, Chairman of the Spon-
sorship Subcommittee, or any member
of the MGA Board of Directors.
A good time was had by all at the
2013 year-end luncheon. We gath-
ered on December 12 in the Social
Center Ballroom for lunch and
awards/rewards were presented.
We alsomade a donation to R.O.C.K.,
the Ride on Center for Kids; this or-
ganization helps children and recov-
ering veterans improve their living
skills.
Our first play day for 2014 took
place on January 7. Our first WGA
18 general meeting will be on Febru-
ary 4 at the Oaks, following play at
Legacy Hills. Please plan to attend,
especially our newmembers; we are
eager to meet you!
Our Vice President, Ginny Patter-
son, keeps our website updated.
We can view it to see play results,
awards, notices, handicaps, events
and registrations. Check it out.
Also, Ginny has created our mem-
bership page which includes photos
of our members. If you are a new
member, or if your picture has not
been added, please contact Ginny
at
She
will be sure to include your photo.
