NEW 2019-2020 Directory
is Coming Soon
The post office will begin delivery of the newest edition of your Sun City Texas Resource Guide & Directory in late June and early July. As always, your privacy is important to us. Each copy will be individually addressed to you and packaged in plastic to protect it during transit. Your official Sun City Texas Resource Guide & Directory is full of helpful resources including updated neighborhood maps, contact information for your city, county, emergency and utility providers, CA information and the most up-to-date contact information for your neighbors. The book also includes a business directory full of local businesses that have invested in your community and look forward to working with you. Please remember to tell our advertisers that you saw their ad in the Sun Rays or Directory!
It will take a few weeks for the USPS carriers to get all 8,000+ books delivered to your mailboxes. If you have not received your new Directory in the mail by July 22, please bring your Member ID or photo ID with a Sun City Texas address to the Communications office at 2 Texas Drive to pick up a copy (beginning July 22).

What do I do with my old Directory?
Do not put your old Directory in the recycling bin! Your privacy is important to us, so we ask that you deposit your old Directory in the BIG blue bin located across from the tennis courts at 2 Texas Drive. The CA will securely shred these books to protect your privacy.

in the Car this Summer!
Did you know that dogs don't sweat? They can only cool themselves by panting, so a hot car is especially life threatening to them.
By now I hope everyone knows not to leave pets locked in a hot car - even for a minute. If it is 95 degrees out, a closed car will rise to 115 degrees in ten minutes. If you cannot sit in the car with the windows rolled up (or even rolled down!), why would you leave your pet in there?
And don't forget about the hot sidewalks! Pads on a dog's paw do not offer enough protection when it's 95 degrees out and the sidewalk is 120+ degrees. If you cannot walk barefoot on the sidewalk, your dog's paws will hurt too. And it's even hotter on blacktop!

Recently, we closed the Hidden Ravine Natural Area, Quarter Moon and Mockingbird Hiking trails due to reports of aggressive coyotes in the area. We have completed the assessment of this area and several aggressive coyotes were removed and the trails have been re-opened.
Remember, these are wildlife areas and everyone needs to take proper precautions and enter at their own risk. Dogs may increase the risk of an encounter as coyotes see them as a direct threat. Dogs must be on a leash at all times for their safety and the safety of all!

Outdoor Warning Sirens
There are four outdoor warning sirens in Sun City which are intended to warn those who are outdoors that bad weather is in the area and to take shelter. They are not intended to alert residents inside their homes.
The sirens rotate 360 degrees sounding a steady tone for three minutes in the event of an emergency and may be continually activated until the danger passes. They are activated to warn of tornadoes, severe weather with strong winds, large hail, or a hazardous chemical incident. There is no all-clear signal.
Siren Testing
The audible testing of the sirens takes place the first Saturday of every month at 11 a.m. No testing is conducted during severe weather or if there is a threat of severe weather to avoid causing confusion for residents.
Siren locations in Sun City:
- Texas Drive & Sun City Blvd the Fire Station 3
- Cool Springs Blvd in the center median near the CC Amenity Center
- Sun City Blvd in the center median near the softball field
- Williams Drive by the entrance to Scott & White
Other Alerts
These sirens are just one way to stay informed about hazards. Residents are also encouraged to register their phones to receive emergency alerts from the local 911 center. Sign up at WarnCentralTexas.org.

Didn't Get Your Sun Rays?
|
|
If you do not receive your Sun Rays magazine in your mail box by the second business day of the month, please go to any Sun City Monitor's desk where you can pick up a copy of the magazine. You will be asked your name and address, so that we can report this missed delivery to the Post Office.
We also suggest that you gently remind your carrier that you missed your Sun Rays magazine with a note in your mailbox. Oftentimes, this results in the delivery of the magazine the following day as there may have been a substitute during the normal delivery time frame.

NEED A CPR/FIRST AID CLASS?
Fitness AED's Have Moved
The AED’s (or automated external defibrillator) at all fitness centers have been moved. They are now located next to the red 911 phones.
If you don't know how to use an AED, the EMC Committee offers CPR/First Aid classes. Click Here to check out the June classes.

Phone & Battery Recycling
Our cell phone and battery recycling boxes at the Activities Center have been extremely successful. Kudos to y'all!
Please follow the directions on the recycling boxes. Bring only the cell phone - no packaging or cords - and be sure to delete all of your cell information; a factory reset usually does the trick.

New 3-way Stop @ Rocky Hollow
and Pedernales
Have you noticed the new 3-way stop sign at the intersection of Rocky Hollow and Pedernales? Residents raised the issue and the CA, Pulte and the City of Georgetown stepped up and made the area safer. There was a visibility problem with vehicles on the bridge that is now open to the new section of North Point. We will continue to monitor the visibility at this intersection, however, adding a stop sign at the intersection has been a huge improvement. Thanks all and be safe!

We have made some progress, albeit slow. We expect the momentum to pick up in the next few weeks as conditions improve.
