Dinner In For Eight ("48") 

What is Dinner In "48"?  Dinner In "48" is a grouping of 4 to 8 people who rotate cooking meals and hosting their dinner group within their own homes.  Groups may vary in size depending upon registrations.  The group typically meets 4-12 times a year with each member (for singles) or each household (for couples) alternating the coordination (i.e., hosting, confirming date, selecting menu, preparing/cooking, etc.).  If you enjoy cooking and hosting, this is a great way meet neighbors and to discover some new and exciting homemade dishes in a welcoming environment without venturing too far from home.  New groupings are selected annually.

How Do I Join Dinner In "48"?  Enrollment is annually beginning in the late October / early November timeframe.  Once you see the enrollment notice on the N48 website, you may register.  Deadline for registration is typically the first Friday in January.  

How are Dinner Groups Selected?  During the January Social Committee Meeting and based on the number of registrations received, names are randomly drawn and groupings are formed accordingly at the meeting.  Minor adjustments may be made as there is an attempt not to put same people from previous groupings together if at all possible so that each year the groups change in order to have a variety of people, homes, chefs, etc.  Additionally, a member of the Social Committee will inform all groups of their groupings and who was selected or volunteered to be the initial host.

How/When Does First Dinner In "48" Begin for the Year?  In January/February the initial host from each group will send an email to their group suggesting potential dates.  The initial host's home is the first location; it is recommended that host confirm whether any group members have dietary restrictions.  It is also suggested that you check your email frequently for dates/locations of your monthly "Dinner In 48" get-together and/or updates.  While enjoying the first dinner in, the next person/couple volunteers to host and the rotation amongst members continues until each person/couple has had an opportunity to host.
