After an incident cost him his job, assistant basketball coach Marcus Marakovich (Woody Harrelson), is given a choice by the court: serve time in prison or serve his community by coaching a team of players with intellectual disabilities. Marcus initially struggles with his new team, but as he gets to know the players personally, he realizes that they are more than just their skills on the court and together, they can go further than they ever imagined.
