Recommended Suitability: Fly fishing and/or spinner fishing possible. Moderate to expert fly fishing required. General fishing ability expected for spinner fishing. Guided boat trip with guides providing ALL equipment: rods/reels, tackle, fish netting and releasing. If time allows, unguided wadding or bank fishing is possible, but angler must bring gear. Lodging: Accommodations are comfortable lodge/cabin/kitchens with bedrooms and baths. Chef prepared dinner at the lodge April 30 & May 1. Cranor's provides lunch. Guests responsible for their own breakfast. We will cook and serve breakfast in the lodge each morning. The main lodge, Cabins 6 & 7, and Ashley's Cabin at Cranor's White River Fishing Lodge, Cotter, AR, has been booked for April 29-May 2, 2024 (3 nights lodging, 2 days fishing). The main lodge has 5 bedrooms, sleeps 10 and includes a great living room complete with a fully equipped kitchen and wine frig. Cabins 6 & 7 have 2 bedrooms with baths, kitchen and sleeps 4 each. Ashley's Cabin has 3 bedrooms/baths, with 2 rooms hosting one queen each and the third bedroom hosting 4 twins. The can can sleep up to 8, but I am hoping to sleep 6 there. BYOB adult beverages. NOTE: These accommodations are booked by the unit, not the person. Therefore, the price per person may fluctuate slightly depending upon the number of guests.
LODGE COST ESTIMATE: $425 per person for three (3) nights and two (2) chef prepared dinners (steak and fish entrees with accompanying appetizers, salads, sides and desserts). Includes breakfasts.
GUIDED FISHING ESTIMATE: Two (2) full days float fishing on the White River, lunch provided. Donald Cranor anticipates a slight per day guide cost increase (maybe +$25/day) from 2023 prices. The costs below estimate those increases. - Fly Fishing - $600 ($300/day)
- Spinner Fishing - $550 ($275/day)
- In order to secure the appropriate guides, you must specify your preference upon registration. It is possible both to fly fish one day and to spinner fish one day, but we must strive to balance the boats (2 anglers per guide boat). All efforts will be made to accommodate your preference.
- Brown trout - catch & release; Rainbow trout - may keep up to 5/day per license limits
GEAR: Nothing! All fly fishing and spin fishing tackle provided by the guides. No other gear needed unless you are fishing on your own.
TOTAL EXPENSE ESTIMATE: $1000 to $1100 +tax paid to the lodge at check-in. NO advance payment required, except for deposit (see below).
Non-refundable deposit of $200 made payable to Russ Gibbs. Deliver or mail check to 230 Trail of the Flowers within 10 days of sign up to confirm your registration.
CANCELLATION - Friday, March 15, 2024. After that date, NO refund of deposit unless a replacement angler takes your place.
Additional Information:
- Breakfast - $15 will be deducted from the deposit to cover the cost of breakfasts. I will provide a full breakfast of eggs, bacon, biscuits, cereal, pastries, juice, milk and coffee etc. The remaining $185 of your deposit will be returned to you to offset guide tips and/or lodge expenses.
TRAVEL: Carpooling recommended. Distance approx. 625 miles, 11 hrs drive time. Most folks drive in one day, but lodging on the road is your option. Staying in Texarkana or another city half-way is a possibility...to be determined by each carpool. Depending on travel considerations, a group meal on April 29 (6:30pm) at Colton's Steak House & Grill in Mountain Home, AR (15 miles from lodge) can be arranged for those interested. Excellent restaurant.
