Nature Club Members: Here is information on the Birding SIG's July Meeting: Tues., July 5, 2:30 p.m., ACA (Activity Center on Texas Drive)
"Birds and Butterflies in My Backyard" presented by Jack Cochran, photographer/naturalist. Birds and Butterflies in My Backyard Jack Cochran Jack
Cochran is a Texas Master Naturalist in the Good Water Chapter,
Williamson County. His fascination with nature was sparked by birds,
and he's been a birder for over 40 years. More recent interests in
butterflies and other pollinators, dragonflies and damselflies, and
plants, have been encouraged by using photography and the wonderful
citizen science platform, iNaturalist. Jack is currently obsessed with
using a black-light to help photo-document nocturnal insects in his
suburban Georgetown backyard. He is also involved in the Texas Nature
Trackers effort sponsored by the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department,
which involves using camera traps to record mammals in Williamson
County, including two areas in Sun City. Jack's
presentation will start with a photo hike through his backyard to
illustrate favorite bird and butterfly sightings, and then expand into
other notable records Jack has made of Texas wildlife. ============================================= If you have questions about the Birding SIG, Walks or other related questions, please contact the SIG Leaders:
