Frank Slade (Al Pacino) is a retired U.S. Army Lt. Colonel who is blind and impossible to get along with. To earn money for a Christmas trip home, college student Charlie Simms (Chris O'Donnell) agrees to look after Frank during the Thanksgiving holiday. Frank's niece assures Charlie this will be easy money, but she didn't plan on her uncle spending Thanksgiving in New York City. Frank has a very special plan for the weekend that includes travel, women, good food, fine wine, and dancing the tango, and he brings Charlie along for the ride. Al Pacino won an Academy Award for Best Actor for his performance and the film was nominated for Best Director, Best Picture, and Best Screenplay. |
