Our ‘holly’ day will begin with a drive through Texas hill country to the charming German town of Fredericksburg, all decked out in its holiday finery. You will find yourself surrounded by a wide selection of restaurants and boutique shops for lunch on your own and/or last minute shopping. After lunch we will board the bus for the short trip to The Fredericksburg Theater Company to enjoy The Winter Wonderettes. Whether you were lucky enough to see or you missed the original Marvelous Wonderettes, you will not want to miss this amazing quartet’s holiday rendition. After their 10th reunion show Betty Jean taps the quartet to join her as entertainment for the holiday party at Harper's Hardware where they are the employees. As they await Mr. Harper's arrival as Santa with their bonus checks, the Wonderettes regale us with 25 pop holiday standards while catching up on their lives. Ditsy is pregnant again and bespectacled nerd Missy is recently wed. Sultry, unattached Cindy Lou vies with Betty Jean for the attentions of Bob from the plumbing department. It is one musical memory or hardy laugh after another. The mixture of the characters’ conflict, ineptitude, terrific McGuire Sisters-style and deadpan humor, along with every paper snowflake and holly sprig in town, evoke a delightful TV Christmas special from the 1960s.
