That is the motto followed by the architects of the Texas State Capitol! Its stunning presence on the Austin landscape has earned its place on the National Register of Historic Places. The Texas State Capitol is widely regarded as one of the nation’s most ‘stately’ state capitols with its native red granite, extraordinary stonework, 19th century architecture and the impressive dome, which reaches 15 feet above its Washington counterpart. A guided tour will be our first stop of the day. After lunch on your own at your choice of several downtown diners (maps and suggestions to be provided), we will head to the LBJ Presidential Library on the campus of the University of Texas.
