WORLDLY ADVENTURES WITH PHOTOSYNTHESIS: FASCINATING DESIGNS FOR TAKING UP CARBON Anyone who travels knows that plants have distinctive forms from one biome and specialized habitat to another, obviously adaptations to particular sets of physical conditions. Classical speculations on the meanings of these designs have been challenged by careful field studies of gas exchange (carbon dioxide and water vapor) by plants over the last 40 years, from deserts to rain forests, results which have altered and refined many interpretations on how to explain designs and photosynthetic strategies of plants. Let's have a layman's view of this topic! Art Gibson, Native Plants SIG Chairman, will explain in laymen's terms how plants can adapt to different sets of physical conditions.
