Remember All the Way with LBJ?  This Tony Award winning play deals with the larger than life character of Lyndon B. Johnson negotiating his role as President after Kennedy’s assassination.  See Johnson as a complicated, vulnerable, and emotionally needy man interacting with some of America’s most influential historical figures such as Martin Luther King, J. Edgar Hoover, George Wallace, Hubert Humphrey, and Robert McNamara.  The setting is 1964, when the legislature was grappling with a massive civil rights bill and Vietnam loomed and divided the country.  Using down-home, off-color humor, Johnson knew how to make deals, swap favors, twist arms, and employ blackmail-like techniques.  Known to run roughshod over people as he felt necessary, he played whatever part it took to win the day.  The playwright says, “It’s a play about the morality of politics and power,” and wonders, “How much leeway does a good intention give you to violate the law?”  See the action unfold from November 22, 1963 up until the Democratic National Convention in 1964.

Following the matinee, we will stop at the Domain where you can choose from a variety of restaurants for dinner on your own.  Eat with your friends or join a group of us who will dine together.

Ticket cost includes transportation and orchestra seating.
