ERCOT, the Electric Reliability Council of Texas controls the flow of electric power throughout Texas. In a behind the scenes tour and an hour and a half lecture, we will learn what happens when they “throw the switch” from the nuclear power plant to our home. Some of the topics to be covered are the Grid Operation, Wind Energy and Electric Expense Bills. Plus, what happens when we have an emergency? Because this is a very secure facility, we must arrive early for our 10 a.m. tour to go through security and get our badges. Patience needed!

After the tour, it is on to Louie Mueller Barbecue for our lunch of brisket, cole slaw and potato salad with the trimmings. Then we will take a behind the scenes driving tour of Taylor, noting the town’s important landmarks and gorgeous homes.
