Have you ever wondered what happens to all the materials we throw away in our recycle dumpster, both in Sun City and businesses? Find out as we tour the Balcones Resources Center in Austin, founded in 1994 by Kenny and Becky Getter, who saw a need to help both the environment and the economy and do it the ‘Texas way.’
Our tour begins with a short video followed by an hour walking tour of the facility then a Q & A session.
Notes: You must be able to climb two flights of stairs and stand for one hour. No canes or walkers are allowed, and completely closed shoes are a must. Cameras are allowed, but no cell phones allowed. Because the facility is very dusty, wearing older clothes is suggested. You won’t believe what they can do with our trash!
After the tour we will head to an Elgin favorite, the Southside Market & BBQ for a two-meat plate with sides, iced tea and a piece of pie. Then I will give you a short driving tour of Elgin and time to shop in their quaint stores.
Ticket cost includes transportation, tour and lunch.
