One of the most important shipwreck discoveries in North America, La Belle, has risen after 300 years to tell her story – a story of piracy, murder and miscalculation that was to doom her voyage and change the course of history in Texas for all time.

We begin with the new 4-D movie, Shipwrecked, in the Texas Spirit Theater. This film dramatizes the story of La Belle and her Captain, famed explorer Sieur de La Salle from 1684 France to her demise in Matagorda Bay two years later. The story is told through the eyes of one of the only survivors of the expedition, Pierre Talon. To enhance your experience, this 4-D film is coupled with sensory effects built into the seats and the environment.

Following the movie, you will have time to purchase lunch at The Story of Texas Cafe. The Cafe offers a nice array of soups, salads, sandwiches and desserts.

After lunch it's on to the La Belle Special Exhibit where, in full view of visitors, the archeological teams of the Texas Historical Commission are reassembling the ship – a 600-piece, three dimensional ‘jigsaw puzzle.’  The exhibit also includes newly edited film footage, rare artifacts, touch-pad games, and interviews with conservators.  This is a chance to witness history in the making and see up close the ship that changed history and the Story of Texas.

Ticket cost includes transportation, movie, exhibit, and entrance fees.
